I Have A 88 Regal With The 2.8L and I Have Nothing But good things to say about it,lost count of the miles (Odometer died years ago) but an educated guess on my part would say 200,000+. Sure the car has had its share of problems, (last year nothing but problems just wish i knew about this site then) but over all seemingly a rock solid preformer
I have just read other posts on other gm forums where people were trashing the 2.8L in favor of the 3.1L. Just curious on how many people still have them, and or you guys opinion on them Thanks, 88Regal Custom |

Re: Your Opinion of the 2.8L V6
I had an 88 Cadillac Cimaron with a 2.8 and I loved it. It had 209,700 miles on it when I gave it to a guy and the only real engine problem I had with the thing was an intake manifold gasket. Even with over 200k miles it still got 30 mpg and only went through a quart of oil every 2500 miles. Not bad for a "high mileage" car. I only have good things to say about the 2.8!!!

Quote:
The 3100 (94 and later) is a better engine since it has sequential fuel injection and a better flowing top end. However, the bottom end is basically the same as the 2.8 and 3.1 so reliability should be about the same for all 3 engines. |
