Z34, LTZ owners, a question

Does your exhast run dual from the motor, convertor, or just a split muffler system?

I got a guy that'll hang two mufflers on it for $150, just some cheap universal Walker turbos.

I actually like the way some of the old Chevy V6 Barettas and Luminas sound when their muffler gets old and blown out internally, and gets that crisp rattle to it. If I knew what goes wrong inside them to make that sound, I'd do that. Like I said, I'm a cheapass.

Thinking about running a contractor drill through the tailpipe and through the rear baffle wall, and see if that does it.

Jeff,
On my 99 LTZ, it gets split after converter. I was thinking of taking out the resignators on it, and seeing what happens.

same, 94 z34 splits b4 the mufflers. im trying to find a guy thats got a mandrel bender(if not im buying bends out of summit) and putting on a pair of Dynomax... ot really having luck with finding someone with a mandrel bender tho... but currently its in that nice raspy state where the mufflers are rusting and deteriorating.. sounds nice... but im goin for more of the rumble than the raspiness

Jeff, unless you have a odd muffler, i dont think that will work, usually the pipe up thru the muffler from the back end just stops short of the far end of the outer case, the exaust is routed backward thru a crossways plate and thru a preforated pipe. You might find a hole in the forward outer case part of the muffler if you drill thru, just a warning LOL

You are right, I didn't think about that. Maybe I'll just cut it off.

Re: Z34, LTZ owners, a question

I own a '98 LTZ with a 3.8 Series II. I was thinking of putting a pair of Flowmaster 50 Series mufflers on mine....a nice deep "thrum" without the serious noise in the interior. I had a 90 3.1 Eurosport that had that sound and I liked it.
