hypertech power programmer

i have a 93 k-1500 5.7 i recently had a hypertech power chip installed and was wondering if i can use my buddies hypertech power programmer he has for his truck (95 c-1500 5.7) on mine or do i have to purchase my own?

If memory serves the older trucks (i believe pre 96) do not use programmers. The only upgrade is to install the chip. The later models (vortech) use a programmer to modify the computer settings.
