Hi Everyone Im a Proud Owner of a GEO! And I love it!

Hi everyone!,
My name is Nicholas and I just wanted to be apart of this community because you all have Geo's like me hehe I love that car to death but hate it soo much aswell. I have a 1995' Geo Metro/LSI(I think?) 1.0 L, 5 Speed Manual w/overdrive (which i beleive thats 5th gear hahaha) And I was just wondering a few things.

1st Question: My Geo's belts squeak at the beginning of the day if I havn't driven it that much. And if its wet outside it squeaks and on some hot days it'll squeak very little. Is this just a Generic Problem with Geo's? Or do I have to time my belts again (which I have no clue how to do so should I take it somewhere? Or find out how to do it and do it myself?) Please help me out if any of you fine Geo owners can.

2nd Question: My Geo only has two mirrors, Left mirror and my rearview mirror. And recently my left mirror from age im guessing just fell off while I was in reverse so I taped it, and its fine now but I wanted to get a new mirror to make my Geo look pimp (hahhaha ya right) Any websites that you guys can suggest to help me find a mirror I'd appreciate it .

3rd Question: Im 18 and in my prime is a Geo Metro a good first car?

Thank you all for your help and comical responses to each others Geo Questions.

Nicholas O'Harris

belts on Geos like to make noise, can try tightening it by adjusting the alternator out a little bit more. don't need to retime it if your just adjusting the fan belt. as far as mirrors you can get brand new ones on e-bay for either side, think they run about $19 a side plus shipping. the metro may not be as fancy or have a lot of options but it gets great mileage, easy to maintain and very reliable so i guess it would make a great 1st car especially for someone on a budget

Thank you very much Crvett69 for your advice im going to see if I can borrow my friends Credit Card to get a new mirror on ebay like you told me, and thank you for the comment on having it as a 1st car...I just hope I dont crash into anything/anybody or have anything/anybody crash into me cause from what I hear the Geo does not handle crashes to well....But I live dangerously

As far as small cars go, the 95 and up Metros do very well in crash tests compared to others in there class. It is no Volvo but it isn't a motorcycle either. I have owned 7 Metros over the years (sold the other 6,never wrecked one) and never felt unsafe. I have seen Metro wrecks and heard of people wrecking thier Metros/Swifts and I hear they come out with little to no injuries. Wlecome to the Metro forum and I hope you have fun with the car as much as I do with mine. I dirve it more than my BMW.
