1983 Riv Wire wheels
Hi Im looking for some info on the 83 Riviera real wire wheels.
I have three wheels but want to make sure they are correct 83 Buick wheels. They are 15x7 4 on 4 3/4 and look like the pics in the Hollander book. Any info would be appreciated. |

Re: 1983 Riv Wire wheels
I just looked in the ROA sites color and trim database and the only no-hubcapped wheels for the '83 where the chrome (steel) road wheels and the styled aluminum wheels (standard on the T-Type). No real wire wheels are listed nor have I ever heard of or seen any.
I don't know the bolt hole dimensions off hand. Where did you get them? Mark P.S. It's hard to tell with the color of the carpet, but it doesn't look as if there is any solid steel connecting the spoke hub to the rim, indicating a true wire wheel, but from the photo it sure looks like a hubcap attached to a wheel. From what I have found so far is that in 1983 for the 20th annv -- Buick used a real wire wheel The hollander # is a 1388 one year only that wheel used a trim ring and center cap. The wheel is a real wire type and uses real spokes. The 83 Riviera XX used a wire wheel just like this one but it had painted spokes. Also from what I understand that there was less than 500 cars that came with the wire wheel option, Thats probably why Im having such a tough time finding info on these wheels. This is the only info and pic I can find on the web of one of these wheels notice the trim ring and center cap.

Wow ! I'm impressed. I like yours better than the XX's in the pic.
If I ever come across one of these I'll let you know so you can complete your set if you want. Good luck, Mark |
