2g GSX
Hey Ive been looking for a pretty cheap, quick car and somehow the eclipse evaded my search. I realized that I pretty much know nothing about them...How fast does a stock GSX run in the quarter? How much would you need to spend to get this car into the high 13s? I heard they take extremely well to mods also. Would you guys ultimatley reccomend this car?

Re: 2g GSX
I am getting a 97 GSX and will have a S-AFC, 550cc injectors, Greddy EBC, and a evo3 16g turbo put in it... all the parts listed cost me about $1000 and it should put me about 13 (at a guess/I hope LOL)

Probably best to search about this first.
The car is not terribly fast stock, but does take well to mods, as you said. It can be a reliable 12 second car for three grand, mainly because of awd launches. The cars aren't expensive. All and all a good bang for the buck. Once a week someone will post on here looking for a 97+ bodystyle gsx with under 60K miles, because they liked the Fast and the Furious. Don't be that person Of course we'd recommend this car, whose forum do you think you're on ![]() Edit>> That's 3000 dollars for mods, i.e. not including the car.

![]() One guy on here ran a 13.5 with only an air filter and mbc, if I remember correctly. The awd launch does wonders--Kevin ran a 12.7 with $1800 worth of power mods.

Haha dont worry I dont plan on it. I was actually really thinking about getting an SRT 4 but thats a little too expensive, plus it suffers from the FWD...I think the eclipse is a nice looking car, pretty cheap, stock turbo, and AWD, what more can you ask for? Also another quick question, is the 3000gt AWD? |

Re: 2g GSX
The lowest I've heard is $700 for 12's. I love our cars.

Are DSM's reliable? I heard that the interior starts falling apart pretty rapidly.

The vr-4 3000gt is awd, turbocharged. You can check out their forum on here (af) to get an idea. The car has neat features and has more hp stock but is heavy and more expensive to mod. If you plan on modding, get an eclipse. It's bragging rights to say our cars have been modded for "x" little amount of cash and reached a "y" quarter, but I think it's even more impressive that many people can do the same for not much more. It's accessable to the majority. A 13.5 on a filter and mbc is badass. As for our cars falling apart, it's the age old saying; take care of the car, it'll take care of you. Like most sports car it's going to require a more vigilent eye than a sedan. But who wants to drive a shitty car, the joy of driving a fun car makes up for the maintainence and fixing of stuff. DSM's have a bad rep for reliability, but if you keep up on maintainence you'll be fine.
