Do people in Europe or Japan drive Corvettes?
Do people in Europe or Japan drive Corvettes?
Do japanese spec cars have english, or japanese labeling on them? Is the Honda badge an H in Japan? |

I don't know for Japanese, but in Europe, there are few Corvette. People do prefer Porsche, BMW, Alfa, etc. I personnally saw maybe 2 or 3 new Corvette here in France, much more Porsche or Maserati for example.
In Europe, there is an "H" for Honda, and I think it's the same in Japan.

Re: Do people in Europe or Japan drive Corvettes?
honda IS an H is japan.
Japanese cars come with a mixture of english and japanese, but nearly all japanese. Inside the car buttons and things in mine are english but my friends subaru (had... he hit a cow last weekend) japanese for the sat nav and climate startup screen and stuff. Also seen japanese on like the overdrive/power button on some autos. GF's FTO is all in english except for one button on the minidisc player. many come with TV screens on the domestic market and they are in japanese. OH and the manuals are all in japanese. The new corvette is the only one that can turn corners, which is a prerequisit in the rest of the world. so perhaps it will get a bit more credit outside the US. the older models appeal for their uniqueness and style, but its a very small market that goes for a car just for looks and only a percentage will go for the corvette.

Re: Do people in Europe or Japan drive Corvettes?
my grandma can take corners in her humber, theres a difference in cornering between normal cars and sports cars. and theres a difference between cornering standards of american cars and the rest of the world. Previously the corvettes cornering has been nowhere near the standard of global sports cars, but yes, better than american passenger cars.

Re: Do people in Europe or Japan drive Corvettes?
I don't know where in Norway pirex lives, but it's not often I see a Corvette. I see Maseratis, Ferraris and Porsches much more often.. I've probably seen about 10 corvettes in my life.. That's not a lot..

Re: Re: Do people in Europe or Japan drive Corvettes?
In Germany the Corvette is in the same class as BMW, Mercedes and Porsche. The old Corvette had a very bad image. And image is important in this class! The Handling, the Quality and the Interior Design is not typical German Taste. The new C6 is significant better.
But is that enough? I do not believe! And japanese Cars? Not in this Price Class! A handful Lexus but no large success! With Italians, English and French Cars in this Class it is the same. |

Re: Do people in Europe or Japan drive Corvettes?
There have been Corvette clubs in Germany and Switzerland for decades! They show up and park together at major races and have unlimited top-end runs on the Autobahn.
Plus England has about half a dozen dealers specializing in used Corvettes. A lot of Brits like '50s-'70s American iron, and Corvettes appear at their "Yank Car Shows". |

Forgot to mention, my immediate family owns a 2004 Silverado 4X4, a 98 BMW 318i, a 90 Surburban, an 84 BMW 318i, an 80 BMW 320i, a 64 Corvette roadster (since 66) and a 63 Chevy II 100 2-door post (with a 388 sprint car engine "donated" by the 'Vette).
