Question about Tour and Sport modes

I'm so bummed. I got my windows re-tinted a few days ago, while pulling out of the tint shop parking lot I noticed that the ECS tour and sport lights are both on. I go back (to tint shop)the next day, the guy wouldn' t hear of it, and said they didn't do anything to it. My question is....Does anyone know of a way to fix this without my having to take it to a mechanic.
Thanks.

Re: Question about Tour and Sport modes

First off, check your fuses.

If that doesn't work, check out this page:

http://www.3sxperformance.com/faq/ecsmodule/index.asp

Except do the opposite, don't unplug it...make sure it is plugged in. If it is plugged in, you could take out the module, remove the metal cover and see if you can see any damage to the inside of the module.

Re: Question about Tour and Sport modes

My VR4 came with tinted windows but its so hard to tell since its like a %99 tint lol, but you can see the plastic stuff at the edges and stuff. How much tint did you get and how much did they charge?

Re: Question about Tour and Sport modes

Well probably because he left and came back the next day...I mean no offense, but they don't want to do free work or get blamed for something that might not have been their fault...
I can understand your frustration, I had issues with a mechanic that worked on my last car, he did a piss-poor ghetto job installing my header, and I needed to fix exhaust leaks a few days later because the moron reused the old gaskets. I called him up and he tried yelling at me over the phone, saying it was my fault because I didn't retighten the bolts enough...
It sucks, and it's not good for their business reputation, but that is the way some operate.

My tint old tint had faded really bad and looked purple. Not to mention the big rip in it from when someone apparently tried to break in. I got everything retinted except front windshield of course. I paid $145. Cost went up due to the fact that they have to strip off the old. I knew I should've turned around and gone back that night. But night is the key word. It was already 8:00 P.M. I was told I would be picking it up at 5:00. Had someone drop me off. Sat in their waiting room for 3 hrs. I was definately not ready to turn it around and go back, but I will next time for sure.

No damage and is plugged in. I think it has something to do with the fact that he said they put the car on an alternative power supply. Something to do with the defrost wires on the the back window during the stripping of the old tint. Somewhere during these power transitions something went wrong.
Thanks for the link.

Try disconnecting the negative end of battery (get radio security code first if you still have the stock radio) and try letting the ECu reset itself. Also check all your fuses. I don't know why they would need an alternative power source, or how else it would damage your ECS...you said no damage...did you take the module out, and open it up to look for any shorts or destroyed pieces?

That mreminds me that I haven't even checked to see if defroster even works yet. I may be in for even more unpleasant surprises. Sorry they screwed you also.

No I haven't gotten that far yet. Just disconnecting it to see if it would maybe reboot or something was a really combersome task. Did check the fuse though. Twas ok.
Gonna try to pull it tomorrow. And check it.
Thanks to everyone for your replies!
