Radio Remote Wire
Hey everyone. I am installing an amp and some subs to my factory stereo. I got everything pretty much set up but i have one question. I have a remote cord coming from my amp that is supposed to go to my head unit but because its factory it doesnt have a place to go. I was told im supposed to splice my ignition wire and put it on there. That sounds like a bad idea to me. Could create ignition problems? Well my question is...could i splice it to the 12 v cigarette lighter outlet? Because it isnt on when the car is off. Shouldnt that work as a remote? Thanks for the input. L8

Re: Radio Remote Wire
Do not wire of of the cigarette plug . Bad idea. a relay is something that you should install using a 12 v positive . 12 v switched (ignition ) ground and the the other lead would do to your remote on your amplifier . These are available for about 7 bucks from readio shack . you should also dissconnection the 12 v + lead from your battery. Good luck .

He didn't say you CAN'T do it. Anyone who knows two things about electronics knows that it will work. He said it wasn't a good idea. And I agree with him. It's not a bright idea. Whatever. |
