Stereo Installation Help - Can't find in HMA

Has anyone installed an aftermarket cd player in your '00 Tib? If so, I could please use some help. I've already cut the original factory harness off and was about ready to just match up colors to the aftermarket cd player...but it doesn't work out that way. I can't find in the HMA webtech either..but what I need to know is what wires from the factory harness match up to the aftermarket harness. If anyone already knows, please help or if you have it bookmarked in the HMA webtech, could someone please give me a link? I have HMA, but everytime I did a search, I couldn't find what I wanted. I came up with engine harness...and something about how to check and maintain harnesses...but nothing for radios. I guess I typed in the wrong key words for the search to work properly? I'm lost...and have this cd player i want to put in. If it matters..I have this cd player: Panasonic MXE CQ-C9901U (model) So..i'm at a loss here!

**UPDATE** Nevermind! I found what I was looking for in the HMA! I didn't look hard enough...that's what you get when you're in a hurry!

why did you cut the stock harness off? you should have just bought a vehicle wiring harness. that way, you could solder it up with the harness for the radio, and then just plug it into the stock harness. you wont have to deal with attaching wires under the dash.

Ok dude, You did the exact same thing I did in my '01 Tib. If im not mistaking, they arent too much different. Splice the harness back on, or if wires are too short, go buy a new one for like 10$. Get the aftermarket harness that u need. Otherwise u may endup fuckin up other wires elsewhere like I did. once u have the aftermarket harness and the stock spliced back, u should be set. Lemme know.

I cut the factory harness off, and spliced the aftermarket wires & aftermarket harness to the factory wires. I found what I was looking for in the HMA webtech. I've always done this, and haven't had any problems.

nisco...kiss my butt!!

Yeah thats what I thought when I cut mine. But the illumination wires dont normally run through the head unit. This one it does and also the fact that the color coding on the wiring system is not even close to what is usually seen, it makes for a real headache.

How do u not use the illumination wires? Those wires effect interior gauge lights aswell as park lamp and head lamp functions. Please inform me.

the illumination wires run(in parallel) to a bunch of different locations in the car. well, mostly parallel, except for a few dash switches which are ran in series. with those dash switches, if you disconnect one switch, you break up the flow of electricity and a couple other switches may go out. but the radio illum have their own circuit. this is why everything still lights up at night when you replace the headunit and wire the new one up without the illum. wire(it illuminates itself).

free- the you got it the other way around...the headlamps and parking lamps affect the illuminations. it doesnt go both ways.

Your right, they do affect the ill. But in a series they both affect each other somewhere within the wiring. I dont have it backwords because I had to repair the wiring a few weeks ago.
