WIP: Tamiya Renault 5 Turbo Rally (Quickie)

Let's see if we can do this done in a week, for the BMOM contest:

http://public.fotki.com/SteveK2004/r...5_turbo_rally/

This is Tamiya's re-release, and I'm going to be building it box-stock. The white Tamiya lacquer base coat will be laid down as soon as SU beats West Virginia for the Big East title (In about 2 hours), and the decals are in the window getting bleached by the 2 hours of sun we get each day.

It's just snapped together right now, to check fit and everything. The pictures were just quickies taken with my new Sony P73 digital camera. I'm still learning how to use it, I've only taken about a dozen pictures so far. If anybody has any tips, I'm all ears.

PS: Is there a way to hot-link photos from Fotki, so I don't have to reduce them to 80kb for the AF Gallery?

Good luck getting it built in time. Cool little car. Did Tamiya include the crew names on the decal sheet in the latest reissue?

Re: WIP: Tamiya Renault 5 Turbo Rally (Quickie)

Thanks. Provided there are no SNAFUs with the paint, it SHOULD be possible: Let the white cure for two days, mask it and paint the yellow, two days later hit it with black, let it cure for two more days (6 total) and decal it in one evening. I can probably paint the chassis in a couple of days.

I'm not going to risk making a major mistake or anything, though: I'd like to have it done for the contest, but not at the cost or agrivation of needed to repair a major problem.

No, there are no crew names on the decal sheet.

There is missing not only crew names decals but also roof decals "PARIS" on the decal sheet. But if somebody wants to built real rallye Monte Carlo 1981 livery there are decals from Renaissance production (Tk24/188).

Not only that, but if I recall correctly there is quite a bit of modification required to the front spoiler, panel lines and the like as well. Jorgen Stahl built a very comprehensively corrected version back a few years ago, when he still had a website.
