1993 merc topaz

i just got this car. it has 2 sealt belt release levers between the front 2 seats but they do not release the seatbelts. any ideas?

Depends on what you mean by release. In an accident, the belts lock so that you can't keep going forward. The little levers are there to unlock the belts if they jam after an accident or some other time. They do not allow the belts to come out of the holder.

Lol, no seriously have your dealer just look at it and they might be able to tell you what is wrong and how much $ to fix it.

that only releases the retractor, as inn loosens the belt up- you have to unbolt them from the track by the window with a torx socket
