Question clutch rattling noise

My dodge caravan 2000 has this rattling noice when the gear is shift. My sister also has the same oproblem with her 1997 voyager but the Mechanic said that is normal with Dodge/Chrysler van. Is that right? how come I dont hear on my freind Caravan?

It probably is normal , it is just the transmission solenoids activating when you shift the gears . On the newer ones I think they have put soundproofing around the solenoids so that you don't hear it is much .

Re: clutch rattling noise

like vipergg said, it's normal, your friend's van has a 3-speed unit and it's hydraulically controlled. Your van has a 4-speed unit and those shift solenoids and when they make that rattling, clicking sounds when you put it in gear, it's just doing it's job. The only time you need to worry is when you're going down the road and it shifts into second gear and stays there, then you're in "limp mode"; you can reset it by turning the van off, but if it does it again, you gotta go to a service shop and let them fix it.
