I have the infinity gold sound system in my 98 GC. I installed an aftermarket receiver also. Whenever i turn the music up load, my door panels shake like no other and it sounds like my car is falling apart. Do i need to get new speakers?? having only been driving for a couple weeks, i have no experience in this subject. Is it easy to install new speakers?? do i need to buy an amp?? would applying dynamat to my doors eliminate this problem?? i am on a teenage budget and cannot afford to pay a ton of money for someone to install stuff in my car so i really need help. THANKS

Re: NEWBIE!!! I need help with my infinity sound system!! PLEASE HELP
Well your jeep should already have an amp (under the rear seat), push in on the door panels make sure they are clipped in all the way.

Re: NEWBIE!!! I need help with my infinity sound system!! PLEASE HELP
I think the reason they called it "Infinity" sound system is because when it comes to being a piece of crap it just doesn't know when to stop. I think the dynamat is the right place to start, it sure helped me. However, the only solution to your problem is going to require money because you're going to have to replace everything. Just be patient, don't try to replace everything all at once. Don't be afraid to use e-bay or the classifieds. I've got about $600 in my system that includes XM radio, MB Quarts, Sony 10 disc CD changer, 10" Rockford-Fosgate sub and amp. I get a lot of compliments about it but I'm sure there are a lot of guys on this site that have systems that make mine look weak. It all depends on what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend. Just save your money, make your purchase and be happy with it until you save your money again and can buy something else. Good luck.

I agree with the last post with one exception, you'll want to change the speakers and amp at the same time to match impeadence. The Infinity system is a 2 ohm set up and you will replace that with 4 ohm. (change the speakers and not the amp, you will only have about 1/2 the volume...change the amp and not the speakers and you may damage the new amp).

Re: NEWBIE!!! I need help with my infinity sound system!! PLEASE HELP
I left the amp in mine and changed all the speakers. I was having a very similar problem to the one you are. While it doesn't sound fantastic now, it sounds good enough, which probably isn't something you want to hear. I spent about $300 just replacing the speakers, but it's probably worth going all out and fixing the whole thing.
