Help me identify this car
I just acquired a 1964 Olds F-85 Convertible White with red bucket seats, Auto trans, I think a 330 ci engine maybe a fold down rear seat. It needs restoring. It's not a 442 What is it. And what is it worth? I know nothing about Oldsmobiles
Thanks Jack |

This model was about midway between Pontiac's performance and youth image and Buick's luxury appeal. As for restoration, it depends on what it needs. Usually you cannot restore most cars and make money on them. You are obviously 2 BIG steps ahead because it has the v8 and it is a convertible. IMHO this makes it worth about double the value of a plain-jane 2 door post sedan, when restored. However, I would guess its restored value is about $10 to 14K when done properly. If the car appeals to you, it probably is worth restoring, since it will be worth more than most hard-top cars, due to its covertible feature. However, be sure you will enjoy the restoration process and owning it, because you likely will spend more on the resto than what its worth. |

I like the early F-85/Cutlass/442 cars. I had a '66 F-85 and a '67. Both were powered by 330 jetfire 4bbls. If memory serves, the '66 was rated at 320hp.
As far as value goes, I take what I read with a grain of salt, but FWIW my latest Old Car Price Guide lists a '64 conv. at $3,600.00 in #4 condition up to $18,000.00 in #1 condition.
