Adjustable Coilovers??
They're so cheap and easy!!! Seems like it would be too good to be true. These coilovers on Ebay going for $150-$200 that are adjustable for 1-4", are they any good?

Re: Adjustable Coilovers??
They are supposed to be "replicas" of the ground control coil overs. I know Im gonna buy a set when I get my next 3S. If you want to wait 6-7 months I can let you know how they are.

Re: Adjustable Coilovers??
Coil overs are supposed to give you a "bad" ride. They also make the car handle better. My tein HA's were often quoted as "unbearable" and "annoying" by any girl in the car, at which point they were told "thats too bad, its the price you pay for being in a car that can do this" and then id take a corner as some insane speed.

Re: Adjustable Coilovers??
What's the difference between coilovers and lowering springs (sorry if it's a dumb question)? :o/

I saw the Tein S springs on there too, I don't know if 1.5" is enough drop for me...I want the car like 1" from the ground. Do you have any pics of ur car with the springs G35?
Coilovers and Lowering springs are basically the same thing. Coilover means "coil over shock" which is a type of suspension setup (McPhearson) that most FWD cars have, in which the coil, or spring, sits around the shock. Other setups have the shock and spring seperate, which is where lowering spring would be designated. Am I right here? I'm just using my basic knowledge. |

Re: Adjustable Coilovers??
You are correct in the origin of the name. However in the import aftermarket world since just about every car starts with coils over shocks the difference is in the fact that "springs" designate a stock replacement that lowers your car x amount of inches. Whereas a coil over is a spring and an adjustable perch so you can lower your from x to y inches, and anywhere in between.

Re: Adjustable Coilovers??
installation is pretty simple. you'll need 4 jack stands, and a spring compressor (rent from Autozone). then get an alignment after installation is complete. however, make sure that with the springs/coilovers you order, that you can still get the wheels into spec. i know with the VR4, after about a 2" drop adjustable rear control arms are required to get the rear wheels into spec. and the rear control arms are another cost. but overall the installation is quite simple if you have the means and tools.

Re: Adjustable Coilovers??
Autozone rents tools? For free or for $$$?

Re: Adjustable Coilovers??
well you gotta lay down a deposit, but when you return the tool, you get your deposit back. so its basically free except you don't get your tax back.

Re: Adjustable Coilovers??
Wasn't there someone on here that was saying that a shop couldn't align his car because it was dropped? Whatever happened with that? Have any of you had a problem with that before? My car's dropped but I haven't personally taken it to be aligned before but I think the previous owner had it done since it doesn't seem to pull. What should I be looking out for to know that I need an alignment done? Thanks.

Re: Adjustable Coilovers??
Well I just had mine alligned a few days ago, before that the car was unstable above 65, violently so. It would vibrate when I turned the wheel at all on the highway.
