K&N Air Filter on my '87 S-10 Blazer

Recently found a good price on a K&N Air Filter for my 1987 S-10 Blazer 2WD (TBI). I was just wondering if anyone else has this mod and what you have experienced.

Don't get me wrong, I do like K&N air filters, but I really don't think that there is any performance gain like they claim.

Look into the price difference between the K&N and a stock replacement air filter, and how many times you would be changing the stock air filter while you still own the truck. Then decide

They don't have much performance gain on a well designed vehicle. Some of the economy cars have an air filter that is too small to allow enough air in, but the S-10s have a big enough air filter that there is little restriction.

I was strictly talking about the air filter, not an intake of any kind...I found the k&n air filter for $30 and I got it.

Well, this is my first vehicle, and the '87 only has 90K original miles on it, so a $30 K&N is well worth it, considering I will have it for years to come and the regular paper filters cost around $4-$5 so it'll pay for itself in 5-6 years, plus the (hopefully) performance gains...
Conclusion: Well-justified expense

That's good.

What motor and transmission is in it? And Is it 4x4?

Congrats on your first car. I hope that it treats you as good as it sounds like you plan on treating it.

The filter for a TBI I think is just the replacement of the whole top assembly with a large round filter.

Meh, can't hurt.

It's a 2wd auto; I sure do wish it was a 4x4 because I love me some off-roadin'.....but yeah, I am taking such good care of it, so hopefully it will be with me for years to come
