I just bought a Trailblazer 2005
Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and happy to be with your. I bought a brand new 2005 Trailblazer LT 2 weeks ago. I was very excited when I decided to buy this care. Nice look and the right size for my family. Total 5 (parents and 3 kids). surfing through the internet for reviews on this vehicle, I found mixed opinions which makes me somewhat counfused, whether I got the right one! The car is smooth and seems powerfull except I experience some vibration especially when the car is idle. People who have the same car, how reliable is it? And what are the common known problems if there is any? Thank you for your input. |

i heard that if you press the gas to hard, the engine will blow up and kill everyone inside.

3 months ago i purchased an 05 also. and i have had no problems (besides a minor electrical one with the blinkers) but aside from that, no vibration, very smooth ride. i love it.. i dont kno what DARKRAIN is talking about ..... in 3 months i put over 10,000 miles on it, no problems at all.. i would see if the dealer can take a look at it.. good luck.

I haven't had any problems with mine, although I don't really care for the electric throttle. There's too much lag between the time you push the pedal and the truck actually starts moving. It almost feels like it hesitates before it actually goes.

Well, I am assuming that you purchased the EXT version right?
Did you get the inline 6 or the V8? (This part has been posted before & you'll be able to find it easily if you have any questions) One thing that you will have a problem with is the rear liscense plate gasket seal. It's that black rubber piece that goes around the outside of your back liscense plate...you'll see it when you look..... Anyway, you'll notice that the rubber at the top right will get sucked into the .......we'll don't quite kow what it gets sucked into......but you will see it. Since your vehicle is new, you may see it in a few months....hopefully not. It's just another hassle to deal with...that's all. People with all TrailBlazers have experienced this. I for one had to deal with it 3 times in the almost 2 years of owning mine & I only have 14,000 miles on mine & it is always garage kept & well maintained. I try to keep it ou tof the sun if I can...... I have also had to have the fan clutch replaced 2 times. It makes a ticking noise when your at idle & when the vehicle is cold. Other than that, I have really had no (knock on wood!) problems with mine. As you can see by my signature, I have the EXT with the V8. I would say that you'll be happy with it overall....except for maybe the mileage.....but we all knew what we were getting ourselves into when we bought these No worries, you'll be happy. Any other questions that you may have just ask. Were here to help

I also bought an 05 Trailblazer LT a month ago. I traded an 02 Explorer for it. The Explorer had many "mystery" problems in the 2½ years I owned it. Some of those were expensive ones, and others became expensive. Compared to the Explorer (the first and definitely the last Ford I will ever own) the TB is great. I think it's a more agressive engine than the V6 in the Explorer. It feels like a smoother transmission as well. The cupholder layout is bad, though (position of the cupholders in front can interfere with the shifting), and the console is smaller. Also, it kicks up a lot of road debris, so I put mudflaps on mine. Gas MPG is not as good as Explorer (19+ vs 16 or so), but I've read here that it may improve over time. The license plate gasket seems to be something that should be watched, though. I had always had GMs prior to the Ford and always seemed to have good luck with them, so I'm glad to be a GM owner again. Hopefully, the TB will be a great vehicle to own, since I drive over 35,000 a year.

Yikes! Mucho miles!
Couldn't agree with you more about the position of the cupholders. Needs to be farther away from the accessory ports & IMO, they need to be a little deeper. As far as the mileage goes......the inline 6 in my other TB (small version) that I had was getting me a little over 21MPG on the highway. --That was doing around 70+ & sometimes a bit higher. It had the 3.42 G80 locking rear end & 4 wheel drive. Around town...your about right, I was getting around that mileage & better.
