I can't believe I'm the only one with the upper cylinder rap (2002 with 30k). It's worse when cold but always there and makes the car sound like a POS. Dealer refuses to acknowledge. Says 'normal', maybe an injector. Any reports, successes with eliminating??? Thanks!!

Don't you just love how the dealer doesn't want to deal with the problems??!!
Those boneheads are such a pain at times! Best bet is to try another GM dealership & see if they will help you out. If not, then contact GM directly & file a complaint. GM will contact the dealership asking about the problem & if things go well, then your dealership will have to fix it without giving you any additional grief. Since you have only 30K on the clock, they have to fix it for an additional 6K right? Or are you outa time? Service writters head & a brick wall---------> LOL!Wouldn't you just love to be able to do that when needed! The only rap noise that I have encoutered has come outa my radio

Engine rap
Is it only noticeable when idling or below 1500k? Sounds like a diesel at idle?

I have the same problem - goes away after 10 mins or so. Got better after dealer replaced Fan clutch-Still a little noise but not as bad. I have seen trailblazer forums discuss this issue as not fixable and dealers when pressed usually come back with its normal for an inline 6. I would have to agree if this was 1954 and I was driving an olds , which I did own for awhile- it had a high horsepower inline 6 that made similar noises. But this is 2005 and i find it difficult to understand why they couldn't do a better job balancing the engine.

Rap
Sorry for not getting back sooner.
If it's the same as mine and doesn't go away after warm-up, it may be the pistons. Find another dealer that will help get it fixed. Mine was out of warranty but GM had extented the warranty due to a early 02 piston problem. Contact GM Customer Service if you can't find a dealer to listen. The pistons/rods were replaced with new GM replacements with longer piston skirts. My TB only had 15k miles on it but it was 4 months past the 36 month warranty. GM will tell you it will not effect the preformance nor the engine life but it sounds so bad I requested it fixed. dmince |
