Overheating

I have a 1995 ram 1500, 360ci. Came equipped with a tranny cooler.I have towed with this vehicle since I bought it new.No problems till a couple of years ago. Started to overheat when towing.Fluid level is okay. Also not getting good heat in winter.

[quote=Austin8214]need more info, Is the engine or the tranny overheating?[/QUOThe tranny light does not come on so I'm assuming it is not.Yes the engine is overheating. The temp needle will just about touch red then I have to shut down.

Re: Overheating

In that age of vehicle, it's common for the radiator to lose efficiency due to partial clogging. Have your radiator checked by a reputable radiator shop.

Couldn't hurt to check/replace the thermostat and water pump either.

Once those two are done you should see a big improvement in cooling.
