passenger side front door hard to open and close
1996 4door
In my ongoing attempt to fix my Blazer, more stuff just happens to be going wrong. This time its my passenger side door. When I go to open it, it is very hard to open. Like its binding on the hinge points. So whats the easiest way to fix this? What parts should I replace? Is there a pictorial or something so I can visually see what I need to change instead of trial and error? |

no...but it really doesnt feel like the type of rubbing that oiling can fix. It feels like the bind when weight isnt evenly distributed. And upon closer inspection, it looks as if the door is slightly lower than it should be. So i reckon new pins and bushings are in order. Is THIS all I would have to order? Do I need to order only one per door? or one per hinge? (so i would need to order 2) for one door? And after reading your post Josh, I guess I need that spring tool from napa. And not to go off topic, but in the picture below, i got one part is the bumper , but whats the other part called? I need to order a new one as that ones a little wrecked, so I need to know what to call it when ordering. And whats a good place to order it from? dealer?http://64.53.216.239:90/car/front.jpg And dont let my lack of knowledge on terminoligy throw you, I am good at working on my stuff when neccessary

Re: passenger side front door hard to open and close
Also could be caused by dry hinges and bushings too.
How about oiling them first.

Don't use wd40, it is not a lubricant. Use some sort of lubricating oil, lubricate the hinges, pins, spring mechanism, everywhere and then open and swing the door 10 times to work the oil in. Then repeat a couple times to get the lube into where it is needed.

Http://rockauto.com shows them for $8, I would be cautious though that seems way too cheap. |
