headlight bulbs

ok this might be a stupid qustion but hear it goes

i found some coolyellow healight bulbs for my car that look like the GTeries headlghts used on the modena and vipers. so anyways the ulbs i foundfit my car but are 80 W instead of the stock 55 W, does this mean it would fry my lgihting electical, or r they fine and they just r gunna be alt brighter than stock, yunno like lightbulbs u use in you house...u use 120 w ones and their just really bright ?? or r they fine to use but theyll put strain on my battery ???

i obviously dont know much about car electrical so thanks alot

they should hurt your wiring...if it is to heavy for your wires and electrical system, it will put a strain on your alt. or fry the fuse...

but i dont think you have anything to worry about...i have 80w Zenon bulbs in my Z32 and i havent had a problem.

Not to say your wrong since it is your car, but be careful about your harness, those are a PITA to replace. I don't think the fuse would burn and it's hard to see it coming. How long have you had the 80w in there for? The max that I would go are 65w...even that is pushing it for me lol.

i have had them in there for a year. i did splice some brand new wiring harnesses in place of the old ones. the harnesses cost me about $10 at auto-zone and about 10 minutes of time to splice in. but i havent had a problem at all...i dont know if the powerful bulbs corroded the harnesses or they were already corroded but either way it was an easy fix. and i havent had a problem at all since...that is my experience with them. before you go out and buy some, let me make sure mine are 80 watts. im pretty sure they are, but let me double check...i also have 120watt zenon's in my foglights and havent had a problem with those. needless to say, i dont have a problem seeing at night.

Re: headlight bulbs

well i havent "upgraded" my harness to my lights, so u guys think 80w will be ok ? and what exactly did u "upgrade" or have to replace ad did u just use heavier gauge wire ? if theres like a really small headlight power wire thing i canbuy from advaned auto to make sure i dont fry anything that would be cool and easy

well, it wasnt really an upgrade. my stock harnesses were all corroded and falling apart. so i went to auto-zone and bought some brand new ones. they happen to come with a heavier guage wire but i spliced them in right at where the bulb connects so that shouldnt be a problem. let me double check and make sure they are 80 watts before you go doing something. i will check tomorrow if i remember...
