Re: 99 Saturn SL1,Radiator Cap location
If I remember correctly, they don't have em.
To drain, open the reseviour cap when car is cooled, The resv. will be pressurized when hot. Open the bottom valve (should be on bottom passenger side of radiator) and drain. To fill, close the valve, fill up, start the engine with the cap off to suck the coolant into all the hoses and air pockets, then add more collant to bring to the right level. Let it run for a bit to make sure there is no air in the system, then you should be good to go. i've never bothered with flushing, but i guess you would do a few water fills and run the engine to clear out the water pump. For a real flush, I would disconnect the in and out hose and get out the garden hose I suppose.

Re: 99 Saturn SL1,Radiator Cap location
no cap on the radiator, only on the reseavour.
there is also a drain plug under the thermostat housing. also, if you haven't replaced the ECT with the new brass design released in 2001, this would be the perfict time. search the forum, that annoying little sensor has been talked about countless times. also remember to use distilled water and Dexcool 50/50 mix. |
