AWD Spins?

I'm getting my Impreza 2.5rs in next week and I was wondering what is the trick in spinning doughnuts in a AWD car? Specifically a 2.5rs... All my buddy's say it will be impossible because its AWD... so whats the truth?

It would be somewhere between difficult to impossible in a full time awd car. Doughnuts are done through losing all rear end traction and maintaining front end traction, then simply keeping the nose in one spot while letting the tail rotate on this axis. A full time awd car is specifically designed to not make this possible, since all wheels will attempt to find tractive grip and you will just go forward. This is why you can easily powerslide an awd car through corners, but not do doughnuts.

actually if you have enough power to loose grip awd cars d overy nice donuts, more controlled, the front tires make a small circle and the rear make a large both smoking, it works, ive seen videos of impreza's and lancers doin it, but you may need a certain amount of power, try it in water.

4WD doughnuts are possibly the most spectacular to watch, but good luck doing it with a 2.5rs. Even a WRX has trouble breacking traction and getting going. It really is the realm of Group A and WRC rally cars with thier huge flat torque curves, and skinny gravel tyres.
There is a fair degree of skill involved, and even the masters often get it wrong, you need a rolling start, and some very violent wheel, and pedal action to get the car spinning, but once it has all 4 tyres going it shouldn't be to hard to hold it. For your underpowered little car, you may get away with running on 4 space saver tyres, most wreackers are happy to give them away, other wise find a nice open patch of wet grass.
But a word of warning, its a very good way to blow at least of the diffs.

You can do it if you have enough power... You may need water to try it.. Ive seen it done in diablos and it looks sooo sweet...
