perfomance electric
k i got new injectors in, titainium plugs in new wires and i must say it made a huge differance, i did the cone air filter still need to make a cold air intake, took the honey comb thing outa my air intake on the intake manifold
next i was thinking a performance ignition module its only 65 $ canadian and the guy at part source said i will notice a dif because it makes for a longer spark wich in turn burns fuel that could be left over in the cylinders,,,,is this true will it make a noticeable diferance? also undrive pullys what kind of torque and hp gain will you generally see? aaron, 93 grand am gt 3300 thanx guys |

Quote:
Ignition module maybe 1hp (the stock DIS is a good system) headers and full exhaust (good luck getting them made) 15 hp, maybe more. full intake and head port job 10 hp Jet Chip -5 hp Underdrive pully- noone makes one, the crank pulley is also a harmonic dampener so even if a UD was available it would be $$$$x2 money spent- way too much.

Re: perfomance electric
its destroked and slightly debored.
regarding interchangable parts with the 3800, the series one supercharger will work, but you need to do a little porting to lower compression, plus a full rebuild since the motor probably has a sh1t-load of miles on it. but it can and has been done. The guy who did it blew the motor ina about a month because he didn't rebuild before S/c 'ing it. the Series one SC should bump you to around 190 hp and with a decent filter, catback system and proper tuning you should be able to hit 200 hp. the other big problem is the 3-speed auto, first gear especially is very tall and kills the lowend (I'm sure you've already noticed, the 3300 has more than enough torque that it should be about to roast the tires fairly easily but he tranny gearing kills it) there have been a few people that have tried to swap in a 4t60 4-speed but haven't been about to work out the bugs.

Re: perfomance electric
ya ive thought alot about s/c it and alot of other things to do and i seem to hit a brick wall everytime
your so right about the tranny, if they engineered the car right it would be plenty fast of the go, but as you said tranny is not really a option so im looking for crazy torque to make up for it.. ive considered looking into the following a series 2 3800 s/c engine a high stall torque converter drastically smaller tires seeing if i can change the final drive im open to spend a good 1000 to 2000 $ on the car but am lost in wich is the best option once the fooker is movin it runs fast its just gettin it off the line like u said |

Re: perfomance electric
oh to add another thing, my buddy is a ford mechanic and hes just swaped engines, he went from a 3.0 l to another 3.0 l withe more valves and some other stuff, he went from 145 hp to 200 hp
and i drove the car before and after and it was a big disapointment , my father who is a great mechanic and engineer told me as he was doin it he would be disapointed and he was right, i think the lack of torque increase was most likely the problem he spent 2000$ for the total upgrade and i dont want to make the same mistake |

Re: perfomance electric
I just had a transmission replaced in my 3300.. and according to my mechanic (after an attempt with a 4-speed) i 'needed' a 3-speed trans from a 3300 in order to work because the 4-speed wasn't compatable with a 3300.. So i would think, you would then have to use a 4-speed trans with a 3800.

you know i have a 3800 and a tranny sittin in the drive right now, gunna send it to the wreckersits in my old boniville , and lookin at the tranny from the boniville it would never fit with out serious moding , i asume that if the 3300 and the 3800 are the same block i could pop on a 3800 series 2 or even series 3 and it would bolt on, i know i would need the puter and posibly the exhaust but i think if that will work it could be the best option,
the tranny deal finding a 4 spd that will work ,cost and the putting it in seems like a dead end |

Re: perfomance electric
finding the 3-speed auto for my 3300 took about a month, it was bad. Ended up getting one out of a Buick Century.. and it is great, but i think i've already done some damage to it

Re: perfomance electric
i hear ya matt...i have read afew places that the 4 speed sun fire or sun bird tranny will work, but i really dunno im pretty sure that 4 spd in my boniville wont its fookin huge, so like i said in my earlier post if i cant find a tranny then i need torque,
a series 2 3800 s/c engine a high stall torque converter drastically smaller tires seeing if i can change the final drive these are all i can think of as posibilities |

Re: perfomance electric
yeah, i would enjoy if i could hook up some sort of ram-air or whatnot system to my 3300. It seems that with the big motor.. and the power that comes with it, it should have a better intake... but i don't know

Re: perfomance electric
ya the best option i have seen is piping it to the wheel well , i just worry about it suckin up alot of crap in rainy weather, the only othe spot i see is behind the headlight and for my car that would mean finding another place for my battery , and ther is no were i can see for the battery to go
