Which engine oil is best?

I am putting back together my 4G63T engine very soon and i'm considering what engine oil to run. I was thinking something that is full synthetic but is that bad in a turbo engine? I'm thinking about Mobil 1 or Valvoline, what is best or do you have any other suggestions? What weight would be best? I was thinking like 5W-30 but I don't know i'm kinda new to the 4cyl. turbo engines. Any input would be great!

Re: Which engine oil is best?

On a turbo car you tend to want higher weights, since we beat the shit out of parts. And the turbo beats the shit out of the oil (there is a reason all turbo DSMs came with a factory oil cooler). I wouldnt run 5w even in the winter. 10wXX Mobil 1 is probably one of the most popular synthetics used in dSMs from what I have seen. I run regular old penzoil 10x30 or 40, whatever is on sale. I have no problems with parts wearing, so I'm sure any synthetic will do fine.

From my experience, I would go with Royal Purple, Amsoil, or a Lucas additive. They have also kept the temperature under my hood down after racing. I also recommend 5w30 in the winter and 10w30 in the summer. (Just posting what has worked best for me)
