Question my new engine tranny

So you said, I could put in a gtp engine but, would i have to change trannys? Or would the one I have work with this engine? Also I asked someone else before and they told me that I'd have HAVE to change supports in the front and depending on what all I change I might have to reinforce the entire car because of the gtps being rear wheel drive cars. That is if I used their transmissions?

Basically I want a better engine and have no knowledge of anything to do with this type.

Re: my new engine tranny

uhh how much automotive knowledge do you have in general? This isnt going to be an easy swap. YOu will need to fabricate things like mounts. If i were you i would use the stock 3800 SC transmission, you really dont want front wheel drive when you have 200HP or more.

For all the information you need on this, check out www.jbody.org and search around for a guy named Raven, he did this.

Whats worng with being front wheel drive and pushing over 200HP, traction problems??

Re: my new engine tranny

LOL... when he first installed the engine and had to put the upper mounts on the radiator support. He tore it in 9 different places due to soo much torque. It takes alot of work to get it to run properly, but the outcome are sickly amazing.

Re: my new engine tranny

yeah way to much torque. That engine makes like 240HP stock. I have almost 200HP on my car and starting from a dig is kinda hard cause it spins so much. And sometimes the torque steer scares the shit outa me.
