Re: 1996 blazer shakes after 55

please be more specific as to what you ever had done on the truck?

Had the wheels balanced, ever had an alignment?

Are the tires up to pressure?

Hearing any clucking when you put the truck into gear?

Tires almost worn out?

We need ALL information.

After you answer BlazerLT questions.... Here's something I finally uncoverd after doing all the usual checks (all necessary mind you).... Check the hub for excessive play and tighten down the nut to specs.... Then check for play again.... But most likely its one of the other things BlazerLT is telling you to check for.

Welcome to the Forum, Dankdog. You'll find that the regulars here are information junkies. The more information you can give us, the better we can help you pin-point your problem.

What kind of tires do you have? How old are they? When were they last balanced? Any abnormal noise when you hit 55 MPH, airplane noise etc.? Does the shaking increase/decrease when turning or going around curves? If so, does the direction of the turn/curve matter? How is your tire pressure? When was your last Front-End alignment? Do you see any weights missing from the tires? Do you see any abnormal tire wear on the front tires? Have you ever replaced your U-Joints? Was the truck ever wrecked? Have you had ANY work done to the truck recently, specifically Brakes or Front-End?

I would immediately suspect the tires are out of balance, however, that is only a guess. Please provide us more info and we'll see if we can help.

Rick
