Question cigarette lighter doenst work??

One day my cigarette lighter on my '99 grand am stopped working, i was using it for a radar detector and thats it, i double checked it with a cell phone charger and that wouldnt work either. I pulled out every single fuse and none of then were burned out, i took apart the dash and the wires behind the cigarette lighter are connected and look fine, any ideas??

I would check your fuses again, make sure its the right amp for the cigarette lighter(look in the manual) or it could be a bad wire or short.

sometimes the fuses will burn out but you will not be able to tell just by looking at it. Get a multimeter and check them for continuity.

You may have a bad cigarette lighter itself. Take the dash apart again, remove the lighter and replace with a new one (approx. $5.99)

This is common when using lighter accessories. What happens is a tab bends and makes a short inside the lighter housing. This is most likely if your popping fuses. Lay off the accessories on that lighter mount , put in a multi point lighter accessory to use your radar detector. I found that when you put in a radar detector and it works without popping a fuse then leave the power connector connected or else theres gonna be repete reprocussions. "More popped fuses and rebending tabs"
IMO from personall expirience with the same car.
