I have a 01 grand am se and I was going to do both front and rear brakes. I looked around for any repair manuals(haynes, chilton, etc...) but i can't find any. So I have a question or two that i was hoping you guys might help me with.
1. Any tips that might come in handy? 2. Where can I find the repair manual? Btw, I've replaced both front and rear brakes b4(once) so any and all tips are WELCOME! Thanks Kat |

Re: 01 Grand Am Se brake questions...
well it sounds like you already know what you're doing, so the only tip I can give you is with the caliper pistons. When you take off the caliper, it works great if you take a huge vice grip or something similar, and pinch and compress the piston before trying to put the caliper back on. And watch out for fluid - the shit leaks like a syphon.

Re: 01 Grand Am Se brake questions...
The later model-year manuals from Chilton or Haynes haven't emerged yet. Generally, do what you know to do, the brakes haven't changed in all practical ways of repair. A decent site is www.autozone.com, surf it for new repair info.
