P1133 on a 97 Camry LE
Hi everyone, my check engine light came on and I ran the computer on the car and it gave me error P1133 - Air-Fuel Sensor Circuit Response Malfunction.
What exactly does this mean? Does this sound like a simple fix? I'm fairly new to this car (I got it in November) and this is the first time the light has come on. Hopefully this isn't something thats going to cost a lot of money. Anyone have any experience with this particular problem to help me pinpoint the exact nature of the problem and the possible steps to either fix or replace. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Re: P1133 on a 97 Camry LE
My boyfriend's car has problems with the check engine code coming on and its also a 97. It last came up with an A/F sensor code and that is located in the front of the engine. It should screw in on one end and then connect to a circuit. Maybe the circuit it plugs into is bad? I don't think it would cost too much, but don't listen to me...I don't know much.

Re: P1133 on a 97 Camry LE
Check all the electrical connections first.
Test the heater using a voltmeter - disconnect the HO2 sensor connector and connect the meter between the heater power supply wire and ground. With the ignition on (engine off), battery voltage should be supplied to this wire. If it's less than 12v, then there's a problem with the circuit. If the voltage is normal, then it means the problem is probably with the sensor. Replace the HO2/AF ratio sensor. Bring your VIN to a Toyota parts counter and get a part number for your sensor. You don't have to buy it there. You may have an HO2 sensor or an A/F Ratio sensor. They are not interchangable. Get the right sensor. |
