Re: SS or Z28

Not all the time. Same engine just depends which one runs better. Acording to magazines and rating yes. But it doesn't make it true.

Re: SS or Z28

Most likely yes the SS is faster. However sometimes it depends on the driver. If you don't know how to race or get a jump on the person your racing then you can lose.

Re: SS or Z28

a stock ls1 SS is 320 hp and z28 is 305, but it is quite easy to overcome this 15 hp difference, in fact, most people end up replacing the intake and exhaust on their z28 anyways, (which is what makes the ss faster) and usually the z will be just as fast, if not faster than the ss

Re: SS or Z28

Ive beat plenty when all i had was an 80 series flowmster. Thats why i am saying it just depends on the car and how it performs on that day.

Re: SS or Z28

im going to tell u something about stats and cars, u cant always get the same 2 cars running the same times the ss could have been built on the wrong day by the wrong guy. everything is mass produced and "the next guy" could be having a bad day and that one car could get the parts put on just a spec wrong just enough to effect it. so your ss could end up slower than a z if it was built on the wrong day. but in the realworld the ss should be just a bit faster, but if u plan on hooking it up it dont matter, u can get 600hp out of both with a bit of effort

Re: SS or Z28

A stock SS will smoke a Z28 on a road course though. Just as a T/A will beat a Formula Firebird. But in a straight line with a few mods to the Z or the firechicken it would be pretty close.

Re: SS or Z28

Hey z28 does the flowmaster 80 series sound real good? Thinking buying one for my camaro just wanted to get some opions. I've a bunch of reviews out of like 100 there was like 1 bad one and it was a guy who put it on a 5.0 of some kind but wasn't a Fbody or corvette it was some shitty car.

Re: SS or Z28

I love the way it sounds stock. They say its the worst flowing but thats not my major concern. I love the sound and now with the LT headers it sounds wicked. I love it even more.

I just put the 80 series on my 84 z28 and it sounds great, I would definatly recomend it if you want great sound. I didn't here anything about being the worst flowing, but you never know.

the tone of flowmaster is more than worth the slight compromise you may have to make on the power side...
