Hazard light problems

This past month I have had the hazard lights on my 01 740il come on for no apparent reason. I noticed them flashing in the reflection of the car in front of me. I looked down at the center console and the light wasn't flashing nor were the arrows on the cluster. I pushed the hazard light button and nothing. I then decided to pull over, went to use my turn signal and they wouldn't work either. Once I pulled over I turned the car off, that did nothing. I then poped the hood to check to see if there was some sort of a fuse for it (First time owner, I don't know much about BMW), couldn't find one, so I closed the hood and they were off.

Everything was back to normal. This has happend twice since then to my wife while driving.

Anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
