'03 Odyssey Electrical Sys Meltdown After Short Duration Shutdown
Went to the airport to pick up family on Thanksgiving. Parked the car, turned off the engine, sat in the car and listened to the radio while my wife went to the terminal. When everyone arrived back at the car and the car was loaded, I attempted to start the car and get on our merry way. No such luck. The Odyssey let me down and did nothing but relay chatter. The door locks, windows, lights and power doors would not work or would work very sluggishly. Several attempts at starting the car yielded no thing but relay chatter. When the tow truck arrived, he gave me a jump and everything was fine. Turned the car off and restarted several times with no issues. The indicator on the battery shows the battery is fine.
This is very odd. After the jump, the car appears to be operating properly. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Happy Thanksgiving! |

After a day and a half of no problems, now my '03 Odyssey is having major difficulties shifting out of park. I have to turn off and restart my car several times before I can get it to shift out of park.
What the hell is going on here??? Someone, please shed some light on this. |

I just the same exact problem with my 04 odyssey. Answer from the dealer was that batteries do go bad once in a while. They replaced the battery. It was one year old!!!!!

And last weekend we left the car idle for two days and it was dead like yours. No lights left on, doors left open. Luckliy it was in my garage where I also have a battery charger. It has been good since then. Are these two problems really linked? That would be peculiar. I would expect that once the car is started the alternator is generating enough voltage to compensate for a low battery. In any case we have had too many times where the Odyssey has failed us, and I don't want the battery to cause another. Figure I'll just replace it now as insurance. |
