CD/MP3 installation for 96 Camary
I just bought Extreme CD/MP3 player for my 96 Camry.
When I started installing the CD player, I found that the cable harness assembly is different in my car from the after market CD player. As an example, one of the Blue connector from my car has 10 wires going into it but the connector that came with CD has only 8 wires. What do I need to do? Do I need to buy a optional snap on harness assembly? Anyone out there who can provide me some guidance? Thanks... |

Re: CD/MP3 installation for 96 Camary
In most cases you get an after market wire harness. This connects to the factory harness nicely, then goes to wire segments. You solder or crimp these wires to the harness for your stereo. Then you can connect the harness into your vehicle. It is best to solder while the harness is out of the vehicle since you have much more room. The possibility for the extra wires can be the Remote Antenna Relay (puts the power antenna, if equipped, up and down as the stereo is put in radio mode), Remote Amplifier Relay (turns the amplifier, if equipped, on and off with the stereo), Dimmer (brightens/darkens the display with the headlights going on or off). I can't think of anything these other two wires may be. When you buy the harness every wire will be labeled, so you can see what the stereo doesn't have that the car harness does. For whatever the wires are leftover, post it back so you can learn how to get around it, like if it is the remote power antenna relay or something else that does will not function if not properlly connected.
