Post Engine Oil Capacity?

Does anyone know how many quarts of oil a 1994 GMC Jimmy with the 4.3 V6 takes? I don't have an owners manual and was unable to find anything on this through the search. Thanks for your help.

My manual says 4.5 qts with the filter change for my '92 w/4.3L. Having said that when I first changed the oil and checked the dip stick it read too full. Now when I change the oil and filter I add 4 qts and check the level after running the engine. I than add a little more to get it to the full mark on the dip stick.

Re: Engine Oil Capacity?

And use that amount ONLY!

Do not fill it to the top of the dip stick seeing that will be probably overfilled.

4.5qts on my dipstick brings me up to the 3/4 mark in the hatched zone.
