Where is the transmission leak on my '97?
I have a '97 Grand Prix...3.8...very low miles...live in Tuscan. I have had a slow transmission fluid leak for a while. I've never seen any drops on the driveway. I check my level according to the instructions in the owners manual, and over time, the level just slowly drops. Has anybody else seen this? Where is the fluid going? Thanks.

Re: Where is the transmission leak on my '97?
Do you see any fluid build-up on the exterior of the transmission pan? See any seepage around the pan gasket? You could be leaking more when the transmission is under load (i.e. increased line pressure). That may be why you aren't seeing anything in the driveway.

Have you looked underneath the vehicle could be a pan gasket or an axle seal.

I agree, just wanted to add... If its the output seal, then most likely there will be fluid all over the place. |

Re: Where is the transmission leak on my '97?
I don't have a good, safe way to get under the car for a good look. I was just thinking that, even if the thing was only leaking under load, I would still see a residual drop on the driveway, occasionally. Maybe I'm wrong....
