Red face A story with somewhat of a meaning...

Don't worry, don't let the title fool you. There is a race involved... be patient young Jedi.

So, today was possibly the worst day of work ever. Not cause of the work load, or almost being in a freeway accident cause some asshole was speeding then spun out and almost hit me. Nah... a combination of all of lifes little stresses, general fatigue and the lady friend being all ... well bitchy. All came to a point.

My Co-worker and I had been fightin' n a feudin' for a few days. As most co-workers do when you've worked with the same guy for forever. Anywho, he said something that just itched me the wrong way and I blew up. Close to what's called as a nervous breakdown.

Yeah, not something you hear everyday here in the racing forum. But, after all that frass and scratch was off and done with. I hoped in the Z to head home from work... 6pm on a Tuesday. Middle of the week, afterwork rush hour. Fuck... this isn't helping.

So, I hope on the freeway... hoping that somehow it gets me home faster. It's locked up too... Fuck... this isn't helping either.

I hop off the freeway and snake my way through the 6 mile gauntlent, otherwise known as the City, to my humble house. Traffic everywhere I go... insane amounts of it. This is not helping!

Phone rings... argh. Who is it? Fellow AF member and close friend TerminalVelocity is calling me. He's all drugged up on medicine and all sick from some damn fever I guess... and he's rambling incoherrently and asking me odd questions. That was not helping me.

Then... I hear it. The fuel pump. It's making a whirring noise. The hell? Odd, it really doesn't want to idle. The whirring noise starts to get louder. The car starts to lose power in 5th... I drop to 4th to keep the revs up. Using more fuel... Those of you who have an IQ that is more than a single digit probably know where this is leading...

Can I be running out of fuel? No... gas gauge is reading... shit... I am out of gas. My gas gauge has a tendency to get stuck in one setting cause of the little plastic lense over it gets vibrated lose and pinches the needle... and when you tap it un-stucks itself. Well, it was stuck. And I was plum outta fuel.

I managed to putter into... of all places the Long Beach AAA headquarters parking lot. The car of course, cannot be cooperative and die in a parking stall... No, it dies 10 feet from it.

So I have to push it into the stall, and who do I call? Home. AAA would of taken 30-40 minutes to get there and they'd charge me for the gas. Home, well home is always free. Gotta love yer family.

Anywho, the whole running out of gas was just what I needed. It definately helped. My warped sense of humor, saw all the humor that was wrapped up in the fact that I ran out of gas. I'm not a real religous person, but somebody out there has a wicked sense of humor to do that to me.

I'm actually in a good mood at the present. Finally got to see how much gas I actually do hold. 15.2 gallons... it's rated for 15.8.

So, once I got the gas in the car. It was time for the mad dash to the gas station to top off the tank. Even though I had a little over 4 gallons in the tank from the gas can... I still wanted to get gas.

So I raced out of the parking lot and hit the road. Down the road, I got into the left turn lane with another car. A newer Gen SE-R Sentra. There's two lanes that turn left. I was in the left he in the right. I pulled up next to him and doing the usual slight revving to keep the car from dieing out cause of it's idling problem.

I notice him looking over at the car, I"m slightly behind his drivers door. I inch up to get a look at the guy and he's got this look of "Wtf...lezz d00o dis den!"

Light goes green, I ease out in 1st gear through the left turn... and soon as I was straight I looked over at the Sentra who I could of sworn was gunning it. I matted the pedal and didn't let up till I was in 4th gear.

Check the rear view, he's maybe a half mile behind me. Ok, so maybe it wasn't a SE-R... Could of been a GXE. Maybe he wasn't racing. Although it sure did seem like it...

A few blocks later, he catches up and he's eyeing my car at a light. I take off normal... "no, you don't get to see it go fast again!"

Random day... but one of those days you don't forget... for some odd reason.

Moral of the story is... ummm... hmmm... Oh I know. Lighten up... learn to laugh at the stupid shit in life. You'll probably live alot longer cause of it.

I'm not laughing with you, I'm laughing at you! Man, those sort of things happen to me, but it's not just one day. It usually ends up being a week. Yeah, I've learned to laugh, and that is the most stress releasing therapy I have for myself.

You'd think if that was an SE-R racing you, it would have put up a better fight. I think once you buried him by about 2 lengths, he gave up and made it seem like he wasn't racing. I've done that numerous times . Anyway, hope your day brightens up. It's ok Red, AF is here for you when you need it . L8...

Well if he was he was.. if he wasn't he wasn't... I wasn't going to sit around and wait for his ass that's for sure.

I just wanted to get that little car moving as fast as all possible. And I did... with great haste.

Blow off valves are therapeutic. Kinda like Alcohol with out the headache.

Re: A story with somewhat of a meaning...

Yeap, when it rains it pours. I have a pretty good story, similar to that. No race envolved though, lol.

First day of class this semester (Jan. 18) was a really horrible day for me, lol. Started out at about 6:30 in the morning with a lovely fire drill (dorm life for ya) and since its the middle of Jan., it was freezing. It couldn't have been any warmer then 10-degrees.

I get in my truck, crank it, turn the heat on, turn the radio on, trying to stay warm during this fire drill. Been setting there for probably 20-30 minutes, truck ideling just as pretty as you please, heat is good and warm and then......my truck misses once, I'm thinking "what in the world?", it flutters a little bit, and then dies deader then a hammer. I try to start it back, and it will not hit a lick, just grind.

Anyways, long story short, my Dad ends up driving about 135 miles to fix it. Local Chevrolet dealer wanted at least $40 to tow it to their garage (which is a wopping .5 mile at that from where it was parked), $53 an hour to jsut tell me what was wrong (to put it on the analyzer), plus parts to fix it. I initially thought fuel pump (which would have been about $130 in all total for parts and labor), but could hear it running when a friend turned the key on for me, so I was at a loss, and we decided me having to pay $200+ for them to fix it would be silly.

As it turned out, it was the control module inside the distributor. I guess after 13 years and 130,000 miles, it was due to tear up. The funny thing is, in my first class of that day, the teacher was just rambling on about how we should ask questions if we need to....and for an example of a question not to ask, he said "Now if you have a small block chevy, and it won't crank, don't ask me!" I thought! My god! Can this guy read minds??

So atleast you did just run out of gas! lol. And good kill. You no doubt broke that guys heart!

yeah everyone has their bad days.

i've been having a bad 2 months hear my story out

1) i was suppose to be making 14 psi of boost right now instead of my 9 psi. i had the money to buy a retuned ecu from jim wolf technology, and i bought a set of $450 dollar 550cc injectors from ebay.

things seems simple enough until i tried to get jim wolf to flow test the injectors do they can write a proper program for it. but they couldn't get the injectors to fit. they showed me a pic and everything. so i was asking around the forums and as it turns out you have to swap in the stock o-rings to get them to fit. but it was already too late, i had them send me back to injectors so i can do a exchange with different set of injectors from the same guy i bought it from. the problem is, he lives in japan. i sent those injectors out on november 30th 2004, and to this day there is no word on where da hell those injectors went. to make things worse, i had them mailed at the unite states postal service and it had to be under a registered mail, and after i had it shipped, i looked at the reciept and i had the option to add insurance but the worker didn't tell me about it!!! so now i'm fucked!!!

if i had spent the extra $50 dollars to buy the other set of injectors i would've saved myself from all this head ache. but it gets worse

2) during this whole time, my car wasn't making full boost. i also dynoed alot less to the wheels. so i checked for a month on everything in the car to figure out why i'm not making boost. then i looked at the turbo, and holy shit!!! the compressor blades were all grinded up and is gone!!! what happend was the who made the custom intake pipe for me didn't clean off the lose welds, and metal shavings, and they went straight into the turbo. great!!! now i went to guy to complain. its been 2 months since i've complained and didn't get my money back. i ended up buying a turbo from ebay for 370 which was suppose to be rebuilt.

3) i put that turbo on, the seals are gone!! i'm blowing out smoke out the turbo, and the car smells like burnt oil. now i discussed this with the shop that fucked my car up, and he was only willing to give me $250 dollars for it, which i have yet to recieve

4) i then found someone on the forums who was selling his turbo for $150. i'm saved!!! guess what? after i paid him the money, and its been two weeks, i still didn't get the turbo. i finally see him online and he said he sold it to someone else when he went out to ship it. SON OF A BITCH!!! now he still didn't refund my money yet. i'm goin to file a claim on paypal by tomorrow hopefully.

5) with some money left in the bank, andrew ( turbo2nr ) told me that the 5zigen typhoons were discountinued. these are the rims that i got on my car currently, but they're narrow and have a crappy offset. i wanted to get them in 17X9's in the back. luckily i found one place that still had them, and i imediately put money on it. 2 weeks later my money was refunded to my paypal account, and it took 5 days for it to return to my bank account doh~!

6) jim wolf finally calls me saying that the ecu is ready, but guess what? after this whole ordeal with my turbo, and rims. during htis time, the money didn't go back into my bank yet from the rims. drats, its finally done after 2 months ( its suppose to take 2 weeks ) and i cna't even pay for it.

7) now i'm missing the injectors again. still no word on them, and i tried lookin for another set but they're very hard to find. when i didn't need them, they're everywhere, now when i really need them, they're no where to be found. i'm fucked!!!

this is what i call a string of bad freaking luck!!!
