Brake IDIOT LIGHT goes on and off -- A GREMLIN?

Car is a 1999 Honda CR-V. Base car. Automatic. PROBLEM: The dash instrument cluster BRAKE WARNING LIGHT comes on and goes off intermittently. It might not turn on for a little while, then all of the sudden it lights up. It might stay on for a bit then go off just as mysteriously. (It doesn't "flash" or "blink" -- it comes on and stays on then goes off at random.) The master cylinder has been checked several times and it is full. The brakes work normally. There are no odd brake sounds or anything else that would seem to be out of order. Does anyone have an idea why this light is acting as it is and what I need to do to remedy it (aside from pulling the bulb)? THANKS!!! [email protected]

might just be a problem with moister in the sensor on the cap.

Try unplugging the wires to the cap next time it comes on. If it goes out replace the cap.

Brake Warning light

I've also had the problem of the brake light coming on and going off without any logical cause. The fluid is full, the brakes work fine, yet I haven't done any checks on the master cylinder or any of the brake lines. I have noticed that it only happens to my car when it is quite cold outside, and it goes off when it is aimed downhill sometimes, or after the car has warmed up. Any ideas what it could be? Email me if you think you know... [email protected]

try unplugging the connector at the master cap for a week. If it does it quite regularly than see if this stops it from coming on. If it does than replace the cap.
