Stock Tranny Question

I'm working on building a 2.4 Stroker for my GST. I'm planning on pushing between 350-400HP. Will the stock tranny hold up? If not where can i get a hold of one that will, or even a 6-speed? Also, will my half-shafts hold up?

Thanks

Re: Stock Tranny Question

I have never heard that the tranny WONT hold up...but I am not too sure. I believe that the tranny would be okay, but don't quote me.

Re: Stock Tranny Question

you'll probably snap the diff or halfshafts in your first 20 or 30 passes.

Re: Stock Tranny Question

check out team rip engineering or shepracing they both do heavy duty trans rebuilds. since you are fwd you might also want to look for an LSD. the only brand i can think of that makes them is Quaife but i'm sure some other people sell them too.

Re: Stock Tranny Question

FWDs tend to hold up ok on street tires since they just spin. Wheelhop will kill trannies in a real hurry though. On slicks its possible to get enough traction to break more often, and fatigue parts, etc.
