Need some advice

I have been wanting to get a bigger scale model for quite some time. I went to my local hobby lobby today to check out what they had model wise. To my suprise they had four Revell 1:12 scale '57 Chevy models all for $39.99. I noticed them before, but never really checked the price because I figured they would be $$$. What I want to know is if that is a good price for this model or should I just take my chances and wait for them to have a sale on model kits again? Thanks in advance.

Re: Need some advice

Some of the more 'experienced' modellers on this site will answer your question better but I personally think $40 (about £25 UK money) is amazing for a 1/12 kit. I say go for it while they're available.

Oh and keep us updated as to how you get on!

If you want it bad enough, get it. I passed on one of those a few weeks back at 50% off...I thought about it though...and also thought about the 1/4 scale Hemi...we had a local 50% off sale to celebrate a new store opening.

That is a good price for that kit these days. It's not quite as good of a kit as the '69 Camaro, but it is still worth getting, especially at that price... - Mark

WHAT?! How come I didnt know about that? I've been waiting for a 50% off sale from hobby lobby so I can get that 1/6 427 Ford motor. Who had the sale?

Awesome price by the way. I want one too.

For a 57 chevy in this scale[1/12] for 40.00 is okay but if you look in ebay sometimes they go for cheaper. i seen one go for as little as 20.00.

Builder, Revell/Monogram makes the 69 Camaro in 1/12 scale. If you post a simple search on this forum for 1/12 you will see that alot of us have a project going on.

Shipping on kits this size is terrible, he'll probably end up paying just as much when you factor that in, and while I trust eBay pretty well, you always have to cross your fingers when buying there. Best bet is the hobby shop, I'd say.

Not always. I ordered a Tamiya 1/12 Porsche 935 from Scaleracecars.com to Canada. Postal was 22$usd.. quite good imo. (cheaper than Japan)

Ok, so it's not like $100, I'll concede, but....

$20 (for the kit off ebay) + $20 (conservative estimate for shipping, eBay sellers aren't as nice as SRC) = $40.

Same price, and I'd always rather get it from my LHS, to help him out and so that I'd get it today and know that it was fresh and new and as advertised and not accidentally smooshed in the mail.

Not to nitpick or anything.

Re: Need some advice

thanks guys, I think I'm going to go ahead and get one of them in the next couple weeks. I'm not worried about them going anywhere, they have been there for a while. I'd get it sooner, but with valentines day coming up, I've got to get the girlfriend something. She can't be left out
