Replaced Z34's battery = no start now

Greetings all...I just inherited my brother's 1994 Lumina Z34. She stopped cranking in this cold weather, and since the battery was over 3 years old, I changed it. Mind you, there was juice coming from the battery, just not enough to crank it over. The starter was fine. I just put in a Sears Diehard Gold today and all lights, radio, etc. are functioning except now the car is TOTALLY dead. When I turn the key, nothing. The security light looks like it's going balistic now too.

Is there a security issue at hand that has to be reset in some manner since I disconnected the battery?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated save me from going to the mechanic.

Regards,
Drew
