1996 jeep cherokee wont start
Help, My 1996 jeep cherokee wont start. The last couple of months when ive turned the ignition, sometimes it would not turn or make any type of noice. I would turn it off and then back on and it would finally start. But know I turn the key and get nothing, the battery is charged and everything works but it will not start. Can anyone help. Thanks

Re: 1996 jeep cherokee wont start
Have you tested the starter? Are you getting power to the starter? May have a faulty ignition switch, or maybe a dirty neutral safety switch (if its an auto) If an auto, hold the key in the start position, and move the shifter around, if it "catches" than you found your problem.

I moved the shifter around and it started in neutral. Is the problem something that can be cleaned? Thanks for helping.

Re: 1996 jeep cherokee wont start
The fact that it started in Neutral usually points to the neutral safety switch. It can be serviced, just follow the instructions in this link
