Resonater box?
I'm working on designing a new sealed [cold-air] box hi-flow intake for my truck. I will be replacing the stock airbox with a custom designed one around a hi-flow filter that will keep it clear from muck, etc... So my question is: I've noticed that the stock airbox has a "Resonater tube attached to a "resonater box". What does this do? ...and is it important? At a glance (from the name), I would guess that it is to dampen the sound level of the intake, but guesses are dangerous.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the resonator acts like a muffler on the front end. A few years ago, I put a cold air intake on my Acura and it replaced the intake, filter and resonator. The engine sound increased dramatically.

Chris I removed mine about 8 months ago, I just used a rubber expanding freeze out plug in it's place.

If there was any improvement i could not feel it, it will take a bit more to notice an improvement when driving a 5000 pound brick through the air with Swampers
