2 amps, question
hey guys, my brother has a 500wattrms amp in his car, he want to buy another amp for the sub, and use his current amp for his speakers, now, if he buys the amp,
what do i do with the rca, power, remote, and ground. do i just buy another rca and connect it to output in the current amp and input to the new amp. about the power, what do i have to do, and same with the remote and ground. for the ground, i heard that u connect it to the same spot where the current amps ground is connected to on the chassis. but i really need help with the power and remote thanks |

the ground can be the same as the current one, could jsut splice the wires together even
same wit hthe remotre, jsut splice it rcas are a differant story, i think u can just use the current wires in the back speakers. jsut like convert them to rcas or whatever. i am not sure on that tho, best get some more advise from other af members |

Re: 2 amps, question
For the power wire you'll want to get a distribution block. For ground, just ground them in the same spot, but ground the bigger amp on the bottom and ground the smaller one on top of that one. For the turn on lead just splice the lead.
The best way to hook up the RCA cables is to run the rca cables for your sub amp off the rear or sub outputs on the back of your deck to your amp. And the rca cables for your other amp should be plugged into the front outputs on your deck to your speaker amp.

Re: 2 amps, question
What kind of speakers do you plan on using that can handle 500 RMS?

Re: 2 amps, question
ok, i bought this power distrubtion block
4 gauge x1 - 8 gauge x 4. and i connected the main power wire to one end and i connect 2 new power cables to the other end which u can put 4 cables. i connected the ground and remote. the amp i have right now is a 500watt rms boss amp. (im on a budget) and the second amp is a second hand low powered amp. 200watt rms 2 channel amp. i was thinking on powering the 2 rear speakers on the 2 channel amp and a kenwood 400watt rms sub on the 4 channel amp. what do u guys think. the speakers are only 6 1/2 and are sony explodes. nothing special. i forgot how many watts they r. but i connected the rca's and when i try play it, what ever is connected to the 2 channel amp has low sound volume. can some one help me guide me through this. |

Re: 2 amps, question
You want to switch your amps. You want your 4 channel powering your speakers and your 2 channel powering your sub.
How do you have the RCAs connected? And how high is the gain on the amp with low volume?
