Is this normal?

When i have my headlights on and the heater on full bore the battery voltage indicator drops to 10 and my lights get really dim inside and out. Is this bad wiring or just normal and i just noticed it ?

No that's not normal, you need to check and clean your connections at the battery and alternator. It could mean your alternator is taking a shit.

Yeah sounds like a weak alternator to me also. Make sure your connections are tight and not corroded. How old is your battery? My Blazer does it also sometimes but the alternator is pretty new and so is the battery. Sometimes with a bunch of stuff on the voltage can drop.

prob really old cuz it came w the rig ill check it out

sorry about the late response i had my dad jump it and it did not it and the connections are not corroded so i am leaning towards the alternator. It has gotten somewhat worse but not to the point of extreme. Are there any tips that i should use when taking one out and does the belt need to be slackened or will it just slide out when it is unbolted.

Make damn sure your battery is fully charged BEFORE you connect the new one or you will take years off of it's life span.

You need to remove the belt before removing the alternator, and disconnect the battery before removing the connector on the alternator.

Get yourself a 1/2" drive breaker bar to release the belt tension (Insert the drive in the tensioner pulley, it has a square drive opening in the center of it).

I just put a new alternator in my 99' blazer last week. Just the
belt and a few bolts. Make sure you disconnect the battery first.
