Its in one of two places, first they were in the head, and then moved to one of the coolant lines that leads to the water pump I cant recall what yr. it was moved, wanna say it was 95 and up though. A clue may be to look at your water outlet on the side of the head, if its made of black plastic-like stuff the thermo is probably down by the pump, if the outlet is aluminum like the head then the thermo should be there under the outlet, hope that helps.
