need some help please!

i searched and never found what i was looking for. my problem is in the summer the a/c never gets cold (fluid is fine i checked it), and in the winter the heat never gets hot. when i checked the temp of the air coming out in the summer it was between 65-70f. that was on the highway. this winter the air never gets hot either, not enough to be comfortable in. im pretty sure the thermostat is fine, it was just changed about 1 1/2 years ago. the temp gauge also moves up to around the same spot everytime. if someone could help me with this i would apriciate it. Thanks,
Jared

You have to check A/C refrigerant levels with pressure gauges, it is a gas, but I suspect you are talking about a different problem, since your heat is affected too.

Do you have stong flow through the vents, or a lot of blower noise with little air movement?

Some have problems with mold/algea/crud build-up on the evap and heater core, that interferes with airflow through the core to the point that the climate control becomes useless.

Either that, or you might be dealing with a stuck heater control valve or blend door if you seem to have good flow.

Re: need some help please!

For your A/C, do you still have R12 or did you convert to R134a? You may have enough refrigerant to engage the A/C clutch, but not enough to get cold.

For your heat, when the thermostat was changed, was it replaced with a 195 or a 165 degree therm? Also, there could be an air bubble trapped in your cooling system.

Your Blend door/flapper door (not sure what the correct terminlology is for that one ) may not be closing all the way, and you may be getting a mixture of hot/cold air - not sure how to fix that one (someone chime in here and help me)

I've also heard of evaporator core/heater core getting clogged with leaves, dirt, etc. and restricting the airflow.

Edit: I just saw Jeffcoslacker post as mine was submitted, we were thinking along the same lines... (hey! how'd u beat me in??? )
