2000 Blazer LT 4x4 electric problems
Noticed your name alot on this forum so I figure you must have an answer to my problem.
We bought our blazer new in 2000 and in '02 my wife was driving it and it died before she left the neighborhood. She called onstar they took it to the local dealership and they determined the battery was bad and replaced it with another AC Delco battery for free since it was under warranty. Sometime since then a few electric problems have occured. Only the driver can roll down a window from their door console and the dome light does not come on when the car is not started and the door is open and randomly the panic alert (horn) will go off for about 2 minutes then stop regardless if you manually lock the doors from the driver's door console or if you use the remote. In addition, I had to replace the battery (this was done 3 days ago) due to the amount of corrision that was on the positive terminal. When I was removing the bolt to take the cable off and clean the end, the entire terminal came out with the bolt! This would explain why I had to get a jump Sunday night which took a while once the guy manuevered the jumper cables clamps to the correct position. I thought the new battery would end the electric problems, but it did not. That being said, not sure if there is a relationship with the electric problems and the battery or something else. Thank you for your time and I hope you can help. Thanks, Nathan |

First, I would check all fuses.
Sounds like one of them is blown.

Re: 2000 Blazer LT 4x4 electric problems
I spoke with a mechanic yesterday and mentioned some times the terminal bolt (positive side) can get tighten too much causing it to pull the metal female end enough out of the plastic casing of the battery to eventually, over time, corride and come out of the battery.
So I've gone back and made sure it was snug not super tight. On the issue of the panic alert and windows, I will check all the fuses and make sure they are not blown. I will let you know. Thanks! |
