Re: Burning too much gas

Did they reprogram the PCM?
The reprogram retards the timing to correct pinging....caused by carbon buildup in the cylinders.....the carbon buildup being caused by the oil entering the intake maifold.
Retarding the timing would cause a decrease in fuel economy....but I do not know how much.

Thanks WIS....this means i will have to go to the dealer, for this one. Does anyone know approximately how much it costs to reprogram the PCM?

I'm not sure where you guys are located, but are you sure the decrease in MPG's isn't due to winter blended gasolines?
G/luck

PCM has been reprogramed on my windstar. The dealer did it for $80.00.
